The Castañer brand has a rich heritage in the Spanish footwear industry, dating back to its founding in 1927 by Luis Castañer and his cousin Tomas Serra. The business has remained a family affair, passing the torch in the 1960s to Lorenzo and Isabel Castañer, who refocused and revitalized the brand. When Yves Saint Laurent himself requested a custom wedge espadrille in the 1970s, Castañer espadrilles were born. Today, Castañer footwear is still highly sought after for the quality European craftsmanship that first put it on the map. And true to their roots, all Castañer shoes are still made in Spain.
